What's the best way to take peeling paint off a 80 year old wood house

      Now you can sit back enjoy the job well done. I remember my dad doing it to my parents cabin. He used to put it off until it absolutely had to be done.

    You could try to power wash it and then scrap it.

    A power washer. You can buy a really decent one at Harbor Freight for a reasonable price. If it doesn't come off with the power washer, then you can paint right over it

    A heat gun and a metal scraper, wire brush for thick built up paint.

    Hi Lolo, You could try a pressure washer to get off as much as possible. Once that is completed, scrape off the rest.

    Oh be careful, test for lead first. You can buy a kit at the hardware store to test. If it is lead it will need to be either painted with an encapsulating paint or removed by a remediator.
