you may enjoy it more ON the deck than on the ground - if your deck is large enough; I love the many types of string outdoor lighting - solar, battery or plug-in; a weather proof rug -- many of those too - polypro or other fade proof, totally 'water safe', etc., a couple/three chairs w' water resistant/proof cushions and small side tables for drinks or snacks; some flower pots with colorful seasonal annuals that are shade tolerant -- impatiens are my favorite --
It would be a different place to go and sit away from the house and deck. Set it up on the ground, maybe your going to need a permit. A gazebo might be considered a stationary structure.
If you put it on the deck, make sure the gaps between boards, if any, are screened.
Make a separate area for entertaining on the ground, then add you desired decorations, lights or a chandelier in the middle would dress it up.
We have been using a screen house/gazebo/casita for over 10 years now, and we put it on our deck. We use indoor/outdoor carpeting cut to size, and put it up each summer (it gets bolted into the deck). We love it! However, since we live in New England, we take it down and store in the shed for the winter (the screened panels fold together).
