Look at the colors for Thompson's Water Seal. It has several stain options available, and will protect the furniture from the weather.

This is a personal preference but when I paint any furniture I always take my cues from what will be on or around it. Like pick out one color that is in your cushion or throw pillows or use a contrasting color to make them pop. I painted my porch swing white and made a green cushion for it with floral throw pillows with the green leaves matching all very well. I have since changed my throw pillows and my cushion to one that has a tropical pattern so I painted my swing black making them pop with the rust, yellow, creams and greens in the pillows. Since my swing in on a covered deck overlooking the pool on the lower deck I will have a much easier time keeping the black clean then I did the white with our wildlife coming up on the deck at night. You can pull the color for your swing from what you decorate your area in or even the color on your house or yard as well as your pillows, cushions, flowers around your house the sky is really the limit and heck if you paint it and don't like the color you chose then it's easy to just re-paint it. Good Luck! I'm sure it'll be beautiful whatever color you choose.
