Otherwise one would have to make one out of cardboard and wood.
home improvement stores sell templates for this very purpose.
A lot of new hardware come with a template; but if you don't have one, just use a heavy type of paper that will withstand being used a number of times. Decide where your want the hardware on the doors/drawers mark the 1st one then use the paper to make the template. Either use a piece of paper to wrap around the door/drawer or the shape of the door/drawer making holes where needed, then use on the otheres
when I’ve put hardware on, the template was included in the package.
Home depot has cabinet hardware installation templates. Or, use a ruler and paper to measure out where you want your hardware. The paper would be your template. Just mark out where you want it onto the paper and that's your template
Easy fix.. painters tape...
I would use a ruler and paper to mark where to put the hardware, be sure to label the paper with what goes where.

You can make your own template by screwing two 1"x1" pieces of scrap wood in a "T" pattern to a piece of thin plywood. You then figure out where you want your holes for the hardware screws, drill the holes the size needed for the screws on both sides of the "T" and you have your template that can be used for both right and left doors.

I have rubbed the screw opening with pencil or charcoal, then had a piece of paper that I made a replica of the drawer or door (using ruler to mark centers and where I wanted to handle placed). Then press the handle down so that the charcoal is on the paper. Hope that makes sense.
