How to spray paint clay pots

    You'll want to paint them with a primer first. I learned this the hard way as I just tried spray painting them and the paint was absorbed by the pots. I have since switched to painting mine with a chalk/mineral paint and that has worked better for me.

    First seal the pots with an exterior varnish, then when dry, spray paint the surface(s). Raise the pot up by placing it upside down over an old glass or cup so that you can get right down to the bottom. When dry, flip over and spray the inside edge

    I set mine down in a cardboard box to spray them outside. It keeps the paint from going everywhere. When the sides are dry I can reach, I turn it to finish and leave it in the box until dry. Be sure to spray where you have good air ventilation like outside or even in a garage with the big door open
