Painting the frame a color to contrast with the wall it is on and now there's all sorts of metallic paints available....even copper! Just remove the mirror to the outside or an area where you can spray. Use newspapers or plastic bags to cover the mirror and tape the area well adjacent to the frame and spray away. Several light coats will work better than one thick one. You could even do a combination of paints depending upon the texture of the frame. You can also just paint the frame with a brush or sponge foam applicator if you need to do this with the mirror in place if that is easiest for you. Go for it!
