If you have kids, old refrigs or freezers are dangerous items as kids will climb in to hide and suffocate. While you can repurpose it to hold items you want to keep mouse-free (I had an old ice cream freezer I used to hold horse feed), best idea is to find someone who can use the parts (advertise free on craigslist), or take it to the dump. You should remove the door(s) while you are deciding what to do, for safety purposes.

If you do decide to keep it, remove the door for safety as Barb stated they are one of the number causes of child deaths.
If you decide repurpose, be aware its against the law to release the freon gas in it as its an ozone killer.
When you take them to the dump, they recycle them. Some places will even pick them up for you, ask who you brought your new one from,
Place in the garage for storage, like a pantry
One idea is to take the door(s) off and put the open side up, enclose the body with a wooden structure and use it as a cooler outside. Fill it with ice and have a great party.
Thank you very much, your replies were very helpful. I am going to use it as a bookcase or linen closet.
Some utility companies pick up and pay your about $35 for it. Ours does. You could also donate to a food bank.
