Use plumber's pipe. Get the black kind...if you can't find that, spray the pipe with paint. Be sure and attach on 16" center studs. Put the pipe through the shelves, using fittings to hold in place (NOTE: some shelves just lay on the pipes and some have holes drilled where pipe goes through shelf). Here are some photos.
