There is a special seat you can get that doesn't shift. It costs a few dollars more but it is worth it We got it over 5Years ago and it has never shifted. We bought ours at Lowe's.

There should be bolts that holds it on...make sure they are tight!

I learned years ago that the bolt holes on my toilet don't line up straight. A long as I used a wooden lid it was ok, but when I started changing to the plastic ones it was very noticeable. I tried a number it things to get the toilet set to straighten up and not come loose. The only thing that I found was to cut a plastic straw only long enough to fit in the bolt hole along with the bolt and then tighten it up. Only needed on the side where the hole was offset. I still have to snug it up once a year or so, but at least the seat is straight and doesn't really shift around. I got mine from Lowe's also and it is the type that you just pop loose the bolt covers and you can removed the whole seat.

Great tip from Kathleen. If the bolts loosen more often you can buy replacements. They are made out of nylon and over time the threads can wear down.

After dozens of "fails" with repairs, we bought a Bath Royale from Marcobelle Company LLC on Amazon. It worked so well we bought a second. Considering getting a third and final one for the guest room just because the slow close lid is so nice!
