Unfortunately this happens with age, and is not possible to reverse.
I have the same issue and I've had luck using CLR first on the tough spots (rinse well) then a product named The Works. After doing this ^^, now to prevent build up again, I dry wipe them down after each use.

Like headlights on older cars that yellow you can use wet sandpaper (ask a auto paint store for wet 600 sandpaper) . Clean with isopropyl alchahol. Keeping the area thourally wwatered proceed to sand till the yellow is gone. continue with wet 2000 sandpaper ty remove the groves left by the 600 then wipe dry with isopropal alchahol 3times allowing each time to dry then apply a clear coat paint Let dry between coats .
they have refinish kits at the hardware stores now
