Pink Bathroom in Rented Apartment. What to Do?
This is my pink bathroom. The apartment is a rental, so I can't retile. What can I do to hide it or change its color?
Try looking for items on Craigs List...I found the "perfect" pedestal sink for only $25! The owner stated that she didn't like it because it was too small but, since my bathroom is only 5' x 7', it was a great fit for me! I also shop a lot of thrift stores, so my mirror and lights were cast-offs as well...a little paint goes a long way. Good luck!
You could paint the vanity cabinet and mirror, replace the hardware, spray paint the light with matte black spray paint and swap out the circle bulbs with cool bulbs like the edison bulbs.
try to put that special contactpaper on it and on the mirror frame, and change the tap for a more modern one.. change the handle and put some selfsticking mosaic tiles between the vanity and the mirror. You don't need much. see what that does before you paint everything..
If you ever paint again, turn 1 gallon into 2 by finding a recipe for chalk paint. Do you have a Habitat for Humanity Restore near you? You could find different ideas from visiting one of their stores.........a different sink, cabinet, hardware, paint.......
Stencil the wall where your sink is. This will give interest and automatic style to your space. Replace the mirror with one that has an interesting frame that looks like metal—like antique silver. Kirkland’s has nice large mirrors that are fairly inexpensive. I use them all the time when redoing baths in the properties we buy. Don’t use a typical bathroom mirror. Replace the light above the mirror with a more modern set. Take down the wooden towel rack and either put a new metal one or if it is just for your hand towel, replace it with a decorative hook to hang your towel on. Paint your vanity cabinet dark gray or black. Believe it or not, this will immediately make the vanity look modern. Replace the knobs on the vanity with some truly beautiful ones. You only have two, so you can splurge. Replace your shower curtain with one that has a vibrant print and choose towels and bath rugs that have one of the colors in your curtain. World Market has gorgeous shower curtains. Find a pretty , small metal or woven basket that is flat on the back side and has hooks for hanging it. Fill it with beautiful artificial greenery or flowers or incense sticks or even decorative twigs and hang it above your towel hook/rod. I promise you will have a lovely bath that you will love.
I would distress the woodwork (frame and vanity) a paint a shade darker than the walls. Spray the light fixture a soft pewter like the knob and use a flat long fixture. You should be about $50. total if you find the fixture on sale.

Paint the cabinet and stencil the sink some pretty pattern on it
