Did you purchase the panels? where?
Maybe I am confused, but it seems that you bought those panels. I wonder if another option would be to do design on the glass itself and find a material or glue that could pass as the border at each drawing. I absolutely admire your idea. I will certainly try something to this effect.

Yes, you could use glass and use silicone, but I don't know how to color that or if it comes in a color you would like. The lines would be much larger with the silicone. If you check artistic paint suppliers, there might be a thin clay that you could run through a syringe to make the lines.
