Front door (metal) has gaps between the door and frame. How do i fix
Our front door (metal) has a lot of gaps between the door and the frame allowing cold or hot air to come in. How do I fix that?
I painted my front door a little over a months ago. It is a metal door and I’m no expert at this so someone may let us both know I will be redoing this door soon I don’t know but here is what I did. Took it down and scuffed it up real good with A scotch brite pad. Not the one I use to do dishes of course. There is a stiffer one I found in the paint supplies isle at the hardware store. Then I taped off the door knobs and hardware. I should have removed them but I just didn’t have the time since it had to go back up before dark. Taped off the glass in the middle and then spray painted it with rust oleum in the color I had done my shutters and a couple planters on my porch. I did 3 fairly light coats because I wanted to be extra careful not to get any runs in the paint. I absolutely love the way it came out! I went with the spray paint because the door had been painted with a brush before and I didn’t like that you could see the brush marks. Hope this helps and good luck on your door!
Remove it, sand it, prime it, paint it, re-install it.
Assuming it is wood. Take the door down, sand it, prime and paint using a small roller (paint brush for the hard to reach areas).
If it is metal, clean well, prime with a good primer such as Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 primer and then put on two finish coats. You can have the primer tinted to your final color.
