Front door on a double wide mobile home, with a regular house door?

I got a double wide mobile home, that has the metal skin with foam core. I want to change it out with a normal house front door. New door jams either a solid wooden door or a steel door. Door will swing inwards. Looking at changing all the mobile home windows too for some good double pane one.

If the framing can handle the weight of a solid wood door go for it. All metal/steel doors have foam core.

You might check with your power company, they have a energy efficiency program that includes grants to switch out inefficient windows. I've known 2 people here in Oregon that got complete window replacements for their trailer and manufactured homes. You could also check with rural housing grant program.

Check the thickness of your wall. I don't believe the mobile homes, even the new double sides, walls are made with 2x4's. Maybe the door jam can be adjusted to a narrower thickness.

Being a mobile home sales center for 30+ years before retiring, what you need to know is the home new .... does it have the new six inch walls....or does it have the 4 inch walls....and are the studs on 16" centers and are they true 2 by walls .... the walls will have to support the weight of the new all wood door as they are quite a bit heavier than the foam core ones. You can get these answers from the sales center it was purchased from or any manufactured home center or even from the manufacturer.
