How to get rid of mold/mildew on bathroom walls?

What????? Call them back to finish the job PROPERLY. Was this job done to code? Permits pulled? No building inspector will ever approve a new roof without proper ventilation. If your attic space is not ventilated either the problems are going to multiply drastically. Call out your county inspector to find all the mistakes, then get them to help you get the roofer to fix their shoddy work. I have doubts about the quality of your roof, if they cover vents. If I were an inspector, I would revoke the roofers license.

In the interim, wash the ceiling and walls with vinegar. Vinegar kills mold spores, bleach does not. Use a portable fan to help ventilate the area until the repairs can be made.

Be a polite nag. Daily phone calls if necessary.

Hi, oh my. Hope they've now opened up the vent. Wipe down the walls with 1 part white vinegar and 1 part water. Wear a mask. Allow to dry well. Repaint with Kiltz then use any quality paint of your choice. Good luck.

Call the company that did the work, they should be standing up to the work they did putting on your new roof and shouldn't have covered the vent from the bathroom. It could be they are also liable for the damage that was caused by covering the vent when they shouldn't have.

If your roofer isn't responding to your request to fix, I would get on your State Contractor's Licensing Board, and file a complaint. Then they should get the contractor to respond make the repairs or lose his contractors license.

I agree with Naomi, if the roof isn't also properly ventilated you could get mold growing on your rafters, sheathing over time besides the bathroom problem.

Do wash with vinegar, you can spray it on if you wear goggles. You can use bleach afterwards if there are dark marks. One of those mini clip on fans works great.

Min the meantime ... Clorox and little water sprayed on the walls will help with the spreading of the mold
