I have a small 3 drawer material storage unit I use for towels in my bathroom and it's turquoise in color.

I have new shower curtain and towels and the primary color I am using are shades of purple and gold.

So you want to change the turquoise color to ? purple ? Can't guarantee anything as far as being able to match the color purple on your new towels etc with the storage unit but if you dont want to reupholster it , I would mix white acrylic paint with some water and paint over the material to somewhat cover the turquoise. let dry ..then do the same thing with diluted purple ( or gold) acrylic paint selected to match your towels etc , and give it a coat and let dry and then do it again until you achieve the depth of color you want . Remember to let dry completely in between coats . it fabric starts to get stiff get a plastic scrunger and lightly scuff the material each time you add a layer of paint ( once it is dry of course) . Good Luck , remember I said I cant guarantee this will work but it is worth a try if you don't want to reupholster .

The dye brushed on may/may not work, it depends on what type of fabric on the storage unit. Some of the poly blends to not accept the dye very well. Test a very small area first, but the paint idea already suggested is more likely to be the answer rather than dye.

I doubt this would work. You could maybe sew some purple or gold fabric around the storage unit.
