Get an old door or a picket fence
You could use a piece of scrap wood, a decal in the shape of a headboard, a tapestry or piece of fabric or even a small piece of wallpaper (you can get small pieces at Spoonflower.com so you don't have to buy a whole roll).
Purchase 2 or 3 prefinished wood shelves as long as the bed is wide. Attached 1 above the other to the wall in front of the bed. You could even attach a light if like to read in bed.
