Need a bit more information please. Is it wood, Formica, veneer? Or is it upholstery, does it have a skirt or ruffle? Thanks!
You need to sand it so any char incomes off, and use a paintable/ stainable wood putty to fill in any divot in the wood.
OK! So start with a fine grit sandpaper going with the grain of the wood. Be sure to use a light touch and feather the edges once you get the burn out. Try not to sand a deep hole. Next comes the tricky part- matching the stain. If you are not able to match the stain I suggest stripping the top and using a darker stain on the whole top. Either way finish off with a sealant. If you prefer you could paint with chalk paint. Again seal the paint- always want to protect your hard work! Good luck!
