Can I stain weather pine wood for fence a dark color
I am changing the look of an old fence from vertical to horizontal trying to keep boards out of landfill I also want to change color they were not stain prior.

I"d use a BEHR Deck stain ... just be sure the existing boards are clean -- pressure wash first and allow to thoroughly dry - to remove any algae, mold, dirt, etc. use a garden sprayer to get an even finish - ( get an expensive one --- you'll just toss it when you're done; depending on the type of stain -- the heavy ones are applied with a nap roller. Follow the application directions and it will be beautiful!
Try a dry brush paint effect.
