It should come back. Grass will go dormant from lack of moisture. It takes longer dry periods to kill it.
If you're cutting your own lawn set the mower as high as you can in the summer, cutting off too much, over an inch, at a time is not good and the longer grass provides some shade for the roots.
Soaking it is a good start, but do it early morning or late afternoon when the sun won't scorch it further. And don't cut it for a couple of weeks -- give it a chance to get healthy again.
