Shedding Dogs- what can I do for the carpet?
I have a black lab that shed's the equivalence of a small poodle daily. I can't believe he's not bald as a cue ball. Anyway, other than using a Ferminator on the carpet before vacuuming. Any Suggestions? Yes, I use it on the lab to. :)

Use a rubber broom or squeegee in between vacuuming days.
I had a black lab who shed 5 pounds of fur every time I looked at him! There is not much you can do. I always thought black labs really didn't shed much--WRONG! I tried using a krill oil supplement for the dog--supposedly it cuts down on the shedding--but I really didn't notice much of a difference in shedding however the dog had a beautiful shiny coat! You just keep vacuuming every day and brushing and bathing the dog!
We have 2 labs, and know your pain. Try Dinovite (found online). Pricey, but works.
We used to have our labs hair cut down in the summer, not a shave, but pretty close. Yo have to make sure their skin doesn’t show or they can get sunburned. In the fall and winter we would keep it short and put a shirt on them if to cold, but we live in Florida so not much need in that😂.
Betty, I clean professionally and I have a little dog fur vacuuming hack for carpets. I get Sprayway foaming window cleaner, no ammonia, and holding the can at waist height, I spray a very fine quick mist on the carpet. Then vacuum immediately. When I do this, the light foam mist just sits on top of the carpet fibers so it's not wet. This breaks the static bonds of the dog hair. It's not perfect, but it makes a huge difference! https://m.lowes.com/pd/Sprayway-19-oz-Glass-Cleaner/1000156073?cm_mmc=SCE_PLA-_-Paint-_-TraditionalCleaning-_-1000156073:Sprayway&CAWELAID=&kpid=1000156073&CAGPSPN=pla&store_code=2697&k_clickID=6df756b3-f01a-41f4-a5c6-5985cf04c38c&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvqbaBRCOARIsAD9s1XAEFZAmR6nCuBTt2m01u73d-fxFHwmn7RXN8bzkfsrg-gSJn3arzDoaAorIEALw_wcB
Brush hm daily. Ask vet if he is deficient in oil nutrients. Some can be added to food.
Just read previous answer. Bathing causes dogs to blow their coat.
