Painting woodwork and kitchen. Should I buy paint or put new wood?

    I agree with Wendy. There are several factors to consider.

    1. Paint is less expensive however the stripping of the old paint can be a pain....how many layers are already there? Then you need to sand it and wipe it down to remove dust or the new paint may not adhere correctly. What type of paint....eggshell, flat, or gloss?


    2. Installing new wood can become expensive. If definitely painting, don't go for prime woods, stick with pine (nobody is gonna see the expensive wood under the paint!) Make sure the boards are straight & not too many knots (knots don't hold paint well, but you can choose to cover knot with a thin coat of spackle to fill it in & make smooth. Remember to lightly sand it.)
