I have a 24inch window inside of dormer- how to add a valance?
Would like to put a valance in the window. Would a 36 inch work or be too crowded?

Gathered or flat valance?
Valence could be 24", 36", or 48 " depending upon effect you desire, and thickness of fabric. If you mean to make a cornice box, I wouldn't go more than 4"-6" beyond either side of top window frame.
The rule of thumb is double or more the width of the window.
