Why does my bathroom tub and sink sound like it's burping when I flush
This is new for us home, but built in 1959. Kitchen sink drains slow but have not heard burps.
When flushing my toilet I have to hold the handle down until the flush is finished.
I tried shortening the chain but the the flapper never seals. How can I fix?
You may have a clog in your pipes (since they are often connected) with if not treated/unclogged it likely cause major issues. Call a plumber and have it snaked out.
Hi Marilyn, Your tiolet and tub might be on the same drain pipe, and your sink is by itself.
The drain on the tub is lower than the sink but even with the toilet so it's gurgles due to some kind of blockage. First thing to check is the roof vent pipe. It can be blocked with debri, birds, or critters. When toilet is flushed the water displaces air in the drains and it needs to go somewhere. That is one of the jobs of the roof vent. The other job is to vent the sewer gas. If it's blocked the air finds the lowest pint to vent (the tub). If the vent is clear then you have a blockage further down in the sewer line
Thanks everyone for answering my question.
