What's the best way to refinish kitchen counters?

I need to refinish my kitchen counters. What's the best way/product to do this? I use my kitchen all the time so I need it to be able to stand up to a lot of use.

Rustoleum has a kit for this
I've used their kits before. They work very well and look great but aren't as durable as I would like them to be.
They are still on my list though, I was just hoping to not have to re-do them every year.
