You could pour sand in a container at least 6 inches thick. Mix in a little water with the sand to make it peanut butter consistency, may be a little thicker then press their seashells into the sand, and I'm pressing down more than 2 inches , then pull them out, to reveal a mold of their shape. Mix up plaster of Paris and slowly pour , starting in a corner, in the container to cover those impressions as well as the entire thing filled up a half an inch to make a plaque of their shells. Lay a tab from an aluminum can in the back to use as a hanger and push down gently into the plaster. This will be used as a hook for hanging. Tap sides of bucket or container on all sides to bring air bubbles to top. Let dry at least and hour. Slowly turn over container to remove. Gently rinse off some of the sand. Makes a beautiful keepsake.
Using aluminum pie pan, saccret, water and seashells. Pour saccrete into pie pan and have children place their hand in halfway set concret then add shells. I have used them as stepping stones in my backyard.
I had my children collect seashells and we got glued them to wreaths. They are grown now and have these wreaths in there homes. One was round the other heart shaped.
Press sea shells (and other objects) pressed in wet sand and plaster poured on top.
Get an old frame for each, some come board cut to fit the frame, and hot glue together. When the kiddos arrive let them arrange shells in the frame ( they could even paint the shells first). Once they are finished you can hit glue them in place.
Lori Hello, I can think of numerous ideas. Get a glue gun and glue the shape of a seahorse, star, starfish, lobster, whatever is beachy. You can put them around picture frames. Let them make any shape they want. Make earrings, where the two shells meet, and put it on your ears. Start with large shells on the bottom, and work your way up with smaller and smaller til you get to the top. You can glue them on a lamp, or maybe lampshades. They can also make the letters of their first name and hang it on a wall in their room, or just their initails. Have fun Grandma and Good Luck!
