How to dig out a crawl space?
I have a crawl space under 100% of a small home (800 sq ft). Furnace and water heater are in crawl space. To maneuver around more easily in crawl space, I have dug out trails, 2’ deep and 3’ wide to mechanics and bins that hold seasonal decorations, clothes, and other miscellaneous bins. All trails are 2-3’ away from foundation. Floor is all sand and If I can, I will haul 3-4 buckets of sand weekly. My plan is to dig out 2 room size areas, 8 x 10, to hold all bins and have easier access to mechanics. I think I can do this by inserting 4x8 treated sheets of wood down lower into sand, 2’ away from foundation, and nail wood sheets into studs and affix studs to rafters. This is to make sure I don’t disrupt/shift foundation. I am going to be 70 in a month and cannot handle concrete blocks. Crazy huh? My kids call it my Shawshank project. Any suggestions-except discouraging ones-will be greatly appreciated.

Wow, Kristin! Sounds like you've got this! It's amazing what one person can accomplish if they have determination and a plan. Since I'm not a builder/construction guru, your plan sounds like it will work. Do you have any plan for pouring any concete for a "foundation" for you 4 x8' wood sheets?
I would truly hope your kids will come over and help you!!! Maybe you could hold a "crawlspace party" and furnish the materials, food, & drinks one week-end??
Oh darn it, Kristen...sorry about your kids not living close. Think I've read something about that money request dealybob but don't you have to do that a certain way and through a special site?? I'm really talking off the top of my head though...hopefully someone else knows who can help you with that. Am pretty sure you'd probably have to use a site where people could help protect themselves if they decided to donate by credit card, don't you think?? Whatever though.....Good luck!!
Google GoFundMe and see if that's the right one. I think it is. Good Luck!! :-)
