What color do I paint my exterior doors and can I add shutters?
I have a metal roof that was a, I guess, a pretty blue. Now it’s old and faded. We do plan to replace it one day. My dilemma is what color to paint my exterior doors to match the now faded roof which looks like a county blue. I have brick that has shades of reds, blacks, terracotta, Browns, and some white. We moved her about a year ago and we knew we would make changes but the folks that designed the house.....well let’s just say I would’ve and you would’ve done different! Can you put a shutter on one side of a window and it look ok? There is no room for a shutter on the other side. Help???

I’d love to help! A picture would make it easier and better - can you upload one? :)
I would bet you could find a very pretty blue to match your roof! I don't think that putting a shutter on one side of the window would look balanced. Is there a way you could add flower boxes under the windows? Adding flower boxes would give you some visual interest for not a lot of money and you could change things out for different seasons.
Hi. You can paint your metal roof. No need to ever replace with proper upkeep. With the brick being in earth tones, you can use any and all colors that suit your fancy (especially since the roof is faded). If you have two windows that are close together and shutters won't go in between a shutter on the outside of each window will look okay. Instead, how about framing out the windows making them larger? Happy DIY'ing!

Yellow is just the color! Go for it. Not only is it a cheerful color, but it's also lucky.
I would paint the roof and shutters black, and the front door terracotta. I would NOT paint yellow. That is the exterior color that people always drive by and say, "OMG look at that tacky house! It ruins the neighborhood!" There is no yellow in your home's brick!
What about a deeper and brighter shade of your “country blue” roof? Do not want to put too many colors on your house. Black also would be nice.
