You can try a product called ‘CLR’ that cleans Calcium Lime and Rust.
Are the rust spots on metal? I've used wire dremel brushes to remove rust from metal. If the spots are on your sink basin, you could try a plastic brush attachment.
Try cleaning the spots with Barkeeper's Friend. Commonly used to clean stainless steel lots and pans. I have even used it to clean that on clothing. It is found in the grocery store's cleaning supply aisle. It should be close to Comet.
