Dress my windows
I have 84" windows in my kitchen on the second floor, love the sun in the cool months, and need to hide the sun in the warmer months. No matter what I do it just doesn't look right. Thank you, Kelly

I love the look of long panels, especially on long windows, and I pair our east facing (super hot in the summer) windows with panels and pull down shades that still let in light during the day, but it dramatically decreases the heat that's let in. Once the sun goes over the house, the shades are raised and are barely visible at the top of the window. Hope this helps! We open the shades up first thing in the morning in the winter, no heat issues. :)
I am a very basic sewer and I sewed easy and inexpensive long curtain panels for my living room. You can pull them back when you want to let the sun in. If you don’t want to sew, you can use a product like Stitch Witchery for your hems. http://momhomeguide.com/holiday-craftacular-easy-panel-curtains/
I use drop cloth curtains throughout my home and they easily hide the sun in the summer but still allow light in the winter. You can see how I make them here: https://www.aratariathome.com/blog/diy-drop-cloth-curtains
I would make easy panel curtains that you leave in place in the warmer months and tie back by using curtain tie backs in the cooler months. This is how I made really easy curtain panels for my home: http://momhomeguide.com/holiday-craftacular-easy-panel-curtains/
Hi, Tho,
Did you solve your kitchen window covering problem, posted on Hometalk, in Sept.? If not, could you attach a photo of the problem window and your kitchen, to get some ideas as to your decorating preferences?
Thanks for your time.
