Make sure they are not locked. If not, you can try steaming them or hot water. Or spray WD40 into all 3 contact sides, wiggle, let set a bit to let it loosen up the stick. Then if need be pry using putty knife or the like slowly from middle of each side, like trying to open a pickle jar, work around each side until it comes loose. Once open, take out, clean all tracks.

Do not try to use steam or hot water on windows, bad idea. The sudden temperature change will , more than likely, crack the glass. If they have been painted since you last opened them, that's the problem. There's a tool you can get that cuts the paint...go to a hardware store and tell them what you want. They look like vinyl, so swelling shouldn't be an issue like with wood. Without physically seeing the windows, it's hard to give a real solution...pics aren't detailed enough. I've worked on a lot of windows, both repair and installation and you might want to call a glazer(window guy) so you don't break them. If he breaks them, he should replace at his cost. You break them, it's at your cost.

Are they supposed to open? Mine aren't. When they get a leak they have to be replaced.

Hi, neighbor! Have you seen them out? I can't help wonder if those metal "things" on the sides are some type of spring and you pull them towards the center and then pull out. I'll keep thinking.....

If they are 'stuck' due to paint, etc., I would try a hair dryer to heat them up a bit, but they seem rather large, so not sure where to aim the hot air. Good luck. Let us know what happens!

You built a new house and almost every window was stuck shut? Sounds like the window installers didn't do their job. I've had a lot of experience in window repair/installation and it's never a good idea to subject windows to sudden changes it temperature.

DO NOT use a hair dryer on the glass as it can/will cause thermal stress and crack the glass, try the putty knife, good luck

Just last week I purchased "Blaster Lubricant" at a garage sale for $.50. Stated on the can was: "over 1000 uses and applications for sliding doors and windows". I sprayed it on my window that had not been opened for 10 years. I(I needed to take out the air conditioner that no longer worked!). After five minutes and a little elbow grease - it worked!! Window is working fine!

not knowing how the clips holding them work makes it hard to give ideas. it looks like the one on the bottom should pull up, you might oil them a little, the use a very fine edge putty knife or even screw driver have to be easy not to damage the seal.

Mine were stuck too. I unlocked them then put a pice of wood on the frame and tapped it with a hammer until it came loose. Then, clean it and spray silicon on the tracks.

Slide a butter knife in along one edge to release the seal
