  • Hi,

You can paint the cabinets. Here is a tutorial I found on You Tube.

Here is another link Better Homes and Garden.

And another one Do it Yourself.

    Have fun!

I have these same cabinets and would paint mine if I were much younger. If you plan on doing this yourself, google and watch some videos about numbering doors, cleaning, preparing.

If you are having it done, make sure you hire a reputable company,

Make sure they are clean and dry. Remove the doors and hardware. Mark the doors and cabinets with tape where they go. Lightly sand the doors and cabinets to remove any gloss and roughen the surface for paint with 220 grit sandpaper or a green Scotch Brite pad.. Use a tack cloth or damp rag to remove dust after sanding. Prime with a stain blocking primer like Zinsser 123, KILZ,or BIN and have it tinted to the color of the top coat. This will prevent dark or stained surfaces from showing through the top coat. Acrylic, or water base paints are low-fume and clean up easily with water. Alkyd, or oil-base, paints require good ventilation because the paint contains solvents that can irritate your lungs and make you feel sick. Alkyd options require mineral spirits for cleanup, but they provide a hard, durable paint finish. Whichever you use, buy the best-quality paint you can afford for a lasting kitchen cabinet finish. Seal with at least three coats with a water based polyurethane. Use a small foam roller and foam brush for a smooth finish.

There are a number of ideas here on Hometalk: https://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=paint%20cabinets&r=2

Also do a search on Pinterest.

There is also a product called Cabinet Transformations by Rustoleum available from Home Depot and Lowe's that I've had great success with. There is no sanding required, it can be used indoors, and the kit includes everything you need, including an optional glaze.

Take a photo to the paint department of your home improvement store and ask for their advice on techniques and materials.

Maybe this link will help. Good luck. (This paint is expensive... but so easy to use!)

I love the paint Benjamin Moore ADVANCE! It's for cabinets and is great for cabinets in kitchen and bathroom. Very expensive paint but so worth it. You will need to prep it. But you don't need a sealer. I just wipe mine down when it gets dirty. It is the best paint I have ever used. If you let it cure about 3 days after painting....this paint does not chip. I love it. Linen white was the paint color we used which was a really nice creamy white. If you are looking for antiquey color you might want to go darker. Call a Benjamin Moore store for advice. I think it does need to be primed but I would check with Benjamin Moore to make sure. I even use it on furniture that I know will get a lot of use and traffic.

Easy peasy! Make sure they are clean , maybe a degreaser for cupboards over by the stove . You will have to remove doors . Next get Chalk paint ! You don’t have to sand anything ! Annie Sloan Chalk paint I feel is the best . Then commence painting . If you want a washed look wipe some off while the paint is still wet until you like the effect . I like to paint it all on then I distress them by sanding the edges and any high points so the underneath color shows through . When finished you just use the wax that is recommended. You could also add a fun aspect by painting the inside back wall with a pretty color ! The paint seems expensive but it goes a really long way . About 30- 40$ a quart but is so worth it ......good luck no matter what you choose .oh and Annie Sloan does have some tutorials on you tube . I painted a desk for my Grandaughter and it came out just beautifully!
