Real milk paint comes in a powdered form and has to be mixed with water. It goes on smoothly and can give an authentically aged look. On some furniture it naturally chips away, which can look cool. It's typically a matte finish and needs a top coat.
General Finishes Milk Paint is actually acrylic based and also goes on very smooth, but it's not an authentic milk paint. The finish is smooth and perfect. Plus it doesn't need a top coat.
