Is there a reason why you don't want dirt in your pot? Are you putting a plant in your pot? You can fill a large pot with pea rock or styrofoam peanuts about 1/2 to 1/2 full before putting in dirt for the plant. Just not sure what your question is. Please add more information so you get some good answers!
that sounds like great idea.
What is it that you want to do with your pot after filling it? What you fill it with depends upon what you want to do with it. Alod how large it is and if you want to move it later If it's large and you fill it with rocks you may not be able to move it.
Here are a few ideas:
Large rocks
Brick
Turn a "butter bowl" upside down
JoAnne Hi,. Start with styrofoam in the bottom, and fill it with flowers, or whatever you want. Aloha!
I recently mounted window boxes on our house and didn't want to grow real plants in them, so instead I put in florist's foam and then stuck birch branches, topiaries etc. in and on the foam. It worked great! Here is a link to my DIY & decorating blog, Simple Decorating Tips, where I show a pic of them with fall decor in them.
If it is a large pot, place a rock or bricks in the bottom, then your non dirt filler, then your decor. You don't want it to be top heavy and blow over or tip over if it gets bumped. For large pots, I typically build in place so no one has go break their backs moving.
