What are you making ? Size of mold will vary , have to be beefier for larger molds . Obviously something with only 1" sides doesn't need to be as strong as a mold w/ 4" sides .
Tins from Dollar Tree work well
Hi,
What kind of project are planning to do?
They sell plastic molds at home improvement stores if you are looking to make a stepping stone path. Prepare the soil under the path, place the mold down, mix 1 bag of re-mix concrete, pour it into the mold and smooth the top. Let it sit for a while and remove the mold and move it to the next location - repeat as necessary.
Frankly, you can use just about anything; though if you want to carry the filled mold around, you need to limit yourself to molds that are sturdy enough to endure the weight or are small. Plastic, wood, metal, even a hole in a pile of sand can be a "mold". It all depends on what you are creating. A round metal cake pan sprayed with cooking spray makes great stepping stones. Put rocks, 'gems', beads, pieces of broken glass (smooth side against bottom of pan), etc. in the bottom, first, for decoration. Be sure to cure well and use a protective spray.
