Hi Colonel,
When I lived in England I composted all my waste for years and really didn't fuss with it at all. I just made an enclosure with four sticks holding up black plastic on a roll. I put some earth in the bottom, then threw my waste in every day. When it rained (which is nearly always did!) the leaves from the trees fell in the compost and that was it. I did use my garden fork to turn it over and aerate it once in a while.
Now I see, looking online, that composting has become an art, you need a masters degree, so I am forwarding an article that you might find interesting:
