pick and shovel, mule and plow, borrow one from your neighbor, rent one.
Pitch fork and shovel. Back support and Gatorade.
Some rental stores have tillers, you leave a deposit, take the tiller and till, get it back to the rental office clean. Williams methods works as well. It will take quite a bit of physical effort.
You CAN rent a tiller from Home Depot.
I have tilled with a shovel before. It is hard back breaking work. I have a tool that is about three feet long with a claw on the end. It works well for me. I paid less than $10 for it from Home Depot. This is the time of year that all these tools go on big sales. Stores push them out so that they can get winter equipment in. Hope this helps. Good luck.
A comfortable handle on a shovel and a rake is the major things you will be needed while tiling your year without tiller
