How do I repair a mirror with missing silver?
In attempting to replace the mirror that had fallen out of a heavy mid-century mirror frame/base (which thankfully did not break), my husband replaced the mirror with liquid nails. Now, instead of having a beautiful mirror, the silver is missing where the liquid nails was applied. Because I am not going for that look, I need advice on how to restore it. Thanks!

I'm so sorry Jo, I know that must be frustrating. I found an article that might help you - https://angelgilding.com/re-silvering-old-mirrors
You can resilver the back or have it done.
Check with a glass shop where they sell and cut glass and mirror to size, they may have suggestions. Generally, the silvering cannot be repaired and it can be rather expensive to have it re-silvered. If the damage is around the outer edge of the mirror you might be able to cover it by adding a mat frame around it. Good luck.
The expense was a concern. The matting is a good suggestion, but the mirror is attached in a way that it looks like it is floating, so matting does not seem to be an option. I did purchase it at a consignment shop at a good price, especially due to its design. May be spending more to have it re-silvered. Thanks, Toolaholic.
