If they are pliable(bendable)branches or pine boughs you could bend a stiff wire coat hanger into shape then using 3 branches or more braid them around hanger shape use glue gun or crafting/florist wire to help hold them onto wire coat hanger form then take a red ribbon and wind it around the branches so you get the stripe effect. you could also use a white one so you have red & white stripes.Use glue gun to secure the ribbons. When I made baskets from dried material(grasses & vines) I use to soak them in water to get them soft again, pliable, bendable so they would not crack or break while working with them.this might help if the branches are stiff and dry I don't know what your thinking or want them for or how big you need them so I can't give much other help than this. hang them by ribbon or just use crook in the candy cane.

If you aren't able to get pliable sticks if you soak them completely in water for 24hrs they will become pliable, then if you mold them into the shape you want, attach them with clips or elastic to something like heavy duty wire made into the shape you want, let them sit like that for another 24hrs or so, they should stay shaped like a candy cane without the supports! Then you can decorate how you want
