Hello, I would use denatured alcohol.

Be aware that if the patina on the antique furniture is cleaned off it will devalue the piece. Be very careful what you use and please, try it in an inconspicuous place first.

Hey Rebecca! What is denatured alcohol???

Hi again, it is a solvent. 2dogal is right though. If it has a patina it could mess it up and devalue the piece. Like she says, try it in an inconspicuous place first.

Hi, just wanted to add something. I think it is better to start off with mild cleansers first. Try dawn ultra in water first. If that does not work well enough try white vinegar in water. Try not to wet the piece down too much. Wring out as much as possible. If those do not work then you can go for something a little stronger like the denatured alcohol. Better safe than sorry. I wish I new the perfect product but I don't think there is such a thing. If there is maybe one of the other hometalkers will know about it. I hope I am not just confusing you more. Let me know if you need anything else.
