How do I fix up a tiled shower without tearing it down?
I would like to fix this up to make it look a little more attractive without tearing it all down and redoing it. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this on a limited budget?

Paint the tile. There are great paints, stencils, etc to use and it would be inexpensive.
Mix shaving cream and bleach to make a paste. Apply paste with old toothbrush to grooves. Let paste sit 24 hours to kill the mold spores. Ventilate your room as much as possible as the fumes are intense.
You could resurface the tiles.
All those ideas are good but if you use acid for tiles that’s all you need make sure to use gloves use spray and spay all the tiles or use a sponge and make sure you cover all the tiles wait the recomendé time and wash the tiles it will come alive like it was new but you will need to regroud again and you will end with a brand new shower please read all the instructions on how to apply the acid in your tile you can purchase that at any hardware store good luck with your project
thank you all for your ideas I will try cleaning up the tiles etc first to see how it looks. If it doesn't look better I'll look into painting the shower floor tiles.
You can use the Recolor Grout color and change the grout color. I would make the grout about the same color of the tile to get rid of the checkerboard look.
I changed my pool grout from white to black 5 yrs ago and it still looks great.
