Rocking chair
I bought this rocking chair 31 years ago when my son was born. It's time to do something with it. Looking for ideas.

A golden wreath that is decorated with small photos.
For my parents 50th. we just did a money tree. You can buy a plastic one but I made it my self and spray painted it gold. we used ribbon tied into bow and mini clothes pins to have people pin the money on the tree or a check on the bows. After fifty years you have all the knick knacks and such that you don't need anything more. I had family and friends who could not come to the party to send cards to my address and before the party I pinned the money or check on the tree. I wrote how much the person sent so my parents could Thank them for the amount. That way they can use the money however they want or need to use it. If enough they could take a trip.
I would make a basket filled /w specialized food items. Cool jams, syrups, maybe pancake mixes, crackers and cheese. Believe me, after 50 years - there is nothing they need or want and are probably trying to pare things down. Let your imagination be you guide. Maybe find a theme they are interested in or incorporate gold.
A friend did this for her parents 50th. Take 50 silver dollars and glue them to a black board or fabric making the coins into 50. Then frame it. Looked awesome! Before you get 50 silver dollars you could try it with some quarters first.
We're just a few years away from our fiftieth and what would mean the world to us is instead of having a party, our friends and families would join us in volunteering at a ministry or local charity. For those who are able, trying to volunteer on a regular basis is a gift beyond measure!
I made a movie using photographs and a few of my parents favorite songs. They loved it! My cost was a few blank CDs and a few iTune downloads. Tip on music: check out your local library. You can put together a scrapbook, either online or the good old fashion way. These are very time consuming projects, but well worth the joy it brings. Minimal costs for scrapbooks, I used Shutterfly. (Check Groupon for deals) You can make copies for family and friends, too.
