How to put in towel rod in wall with gaping hole?
I wallpapered my main bathroom. I then bought new towel rods to put up. Problem is that on one end the wall has a hole cause by taking the last towel rod off the wall. So how do I fix the hole so I can hang the rod without making a bigger mess of the wall.

My husband cut out a small pce od drywall and then I spackled it w/ caulk. Use a rag or sponge, damp, to create the same texture, then paint. Mine looks Good!
You'll have to do a drywall patch. Hopefully you will have saved the wallpaper scraps for repair.
I appreciate the replies. I now wish I had just painted. The bathroom isn't huge but I still spent too much for the wallpaper. Thank you Donna for your answer anyway.
Hi Bonnie! I am sure your wallpaper looks lovely, and once you get this problem fixed it will be excellent. Good luck to you.

After you fix the hole, I hope you can put your towel rod on a stud...that will prevent the holes from happening again.
Hi Bonnie. If you didn't wallpaper over the hole, use a patch kit to cover. Use drywall mud instead of spackling to cover. Spackling is best for small holes and dents. Then put in the towel rack below or above the patch. Happy DIY'ing!
I agree ideally the rod should be installed in a stud. But depending on the length of the rod, it may not be be possible for both ends to hit studs. I also agree wallpaper can be patched and the patch pretty unnoticeable. If you are worried and the stud placement cooperates you may be able to place the rod so the patch is usually hidden by a hanging towel.
