Hi there. Have you tried a cotton ball soaked with rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover? Sometimes this may work better if the dish is warmed to soften the residue.
Vegetable oil, lemon oil...even hand lotion will work. And yes, putting hot water in the bowl first will help. I use this all the time to remove the adhesive residue - works like a charm, and no harmful chemicals!
