It won't work because paint will not adhere to the cultured marble. It may cover but will scratch easily.

Sure can! Rustoleum, Daich, or Giani countertop paint kits. Epoxy based. Follow instructions. Take no shortcuts.
I used Rustoleum countertop paint kit. Wanted a smooth finish rather than a stone finish. Proper prep is the key. It is very smelly since it's epoxy based. Open windows and a fan helps. Going on five years and no problems so far.
