Martina,. Take off the grill and place it in hot water with a little Lestoil, let soak, and scrub with a sponge. Wear gloves. Aloha!
Remove the grill from the stove and place it in a black plastic bag. Add about a cup of ammonia and tie the bag closed. Place the bag outside in the hot sun for an afternoon. By evening, the grease should scrub off the grill easily. If it isn't completely gone after washing, repeat the process. This also works on oven grills, burner bibs, and casserole dishes that get food cooked on.
