Use a concrete nail in the morter. If heavy may need to use an anchor sleeve for concrete.

The old fashioned way. I grew up in a big house that was built in 1907. At that time all the walls were made of plaster. There were things on the wall but in one or two rooms we had big pictures that were hung with picture wire except it hung all the way from where the ceiling and wall intersected. I’ve seen it commonplace in older homes, castles, government buildings etc. I’m assuming it was either the style at the time or it was the most feasible place. If I’m way off, I hope someone is able to help you. One other thing I just thought of, is when we did hammer or screw into a brick wall, it was naturally a lot easier to do if you picked a spot between the bricks, in the mortar, which was a lot more giving (and crumbling)

I would try to use command strips.

You would need to drill into the mortar joints and use plastic anchors for the screws.

    Hi Holly,

You could use brick clips. They usually have them at home improvement stores, hardware stores, Walmart, etc.

I use a steel case nail to hang things on brick walls. You will need to put the nail into the morter and not the brick.
