If you can get vice-grips on the head, you can use them.
If it’s in drywall, then you may end up cutting around the drywall to get the vice-grips on the head.
If you can abandon the screw, then consider cutting the head off with bolt cutters.
You can use a small punch, center punch or cold chisel and a hammer. Put the punch or chisel to the outside edge of one of the slots and tap with the hammer to turn the screw counter-clockwise. In a pinch you can try a flat blade screwdriver in the same way.
These are good suggestions, but you can purchase a special bit for your drill at Lowes etc made for removing these types of screw. Cost abt $3.00.
if the head is above the wood/wall surface enough, you can find a bolt that fits snuggly around it. Crazy glue the bolt to the screw head and then use a ratchet/socket to turn the bolt, which in turn turns the screw.
I would use an iron to heat up the screw and then use a screwdriver to take it out.
You could try putting a rubber band between the screwdriver and the screw head and see if you can get a grip.
