Are you wanting a Murphy bed that lifts up into a wall cabinet or a platform bed?
The thickness requirements for plywood vary depending on the type of mattress. Plywood thinner than 3/4 inch should not be used, as it will not be strong enough to hold the weight of a bed mattress and a person lying down. The plywood can be exactly 3/4 inch thick, but ideally, it should be thicker.
You could also add pull out drawers under the mattress instead of having to lift the mattress to store items. Make them out of ply, add runners to keep them in place and add wheels to the bottom.
Please consider having a looking at Ana whites website. There are some awesome building plans there. You might be able to find something you like to consider. Look around for other options there -if this link is not exactly what you were hoping for.
Hope this helps.

I would make a frame with 2x4s (or larger) and then place 3/4" plywood on top. Instead of lifting mattress and top, I would incorporate drawers into the base.
I made my base out of 2X8 boards with 1/2" plywood on top. I placed 2 sections of X's made from 2X8's under the plywood for support.
