Hi ! Try painting just one wall with a traditional darker color !
Here are some ideas for accent walls that always help a room pop: https://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=accent%20wall%20idea
You can paint an accent wall to make it pop and then paint the other walls neutral or white. This allows the room to feel larger and it makes a statement.
I'm a lover of color and pattern - maybe find a color that speaks to you and then do an accent wall with a stencil or roller pattern to add a little more color and design. Check out my website for some options - https://www.artisticpaintingstudio.com/
Pearlized paint as stripes or on one wall, rag roll paint method, diagonal stripes painted at 45 degree angles, stenciled designs, outdoor motif on one wall , deep color with relective undertones on one wall, border near ceiling or at eye level height, etc.
You could try this look with paint and trim but go with a bolder color palette. It would add a pop of color, while keeping with a traditional style.
